Sealing
We recommend sealing your natural stone with a penetrating/impregnating sealer to protect the stone and for ease of cleaning. Please read this section in conjunction with our Installation Guide.
If time allows, pre-sealing your paving/coping is the best case scenario. However, this must be done when the stone is completely clean and dry so that moisture is not trapped within the stone.
The alternative option is to seal the paving/coping once it is installed but prior to grouting. The paving/coping should be completely clean and dry before sealing. Allow a few days after the paving/coping has been cleaned to allow the stone to completely dry. If you apply it too soon, you could risk trapping moisture in the stone. Apply sealer on a clear, fine day with no rain forecasted. Once grouting is complete, complete the cleaning & drying process again and then apply a second coat of sealer.
Please note, sealer should be applied in dry weather. If applied in cold damp weather (and also winter months), the sealer could look patchy until it has had the time to completely dry out. Seal stone in Spring / Summer. Waterblast clean first, allow to dry completely then seal.
A penetrating/impregnating sealer does not alter the colour of the stone. You are not required to purchase the sealer brand that we recommend (see below), however, we do encourage you to purchase a penetrating sealer, not a sealer that only sits on top of the stone.
We recommend Dry Treat Stain-Proof Original™ Premium Impregnating Sealer

Retards mould and mildew
STAIN-PROOF Original™ is an impregnating, invisible and breathable sealer that provides premium long-term protection for natural stone, tiles, pavers, concrete, brick and grout from water and oil based stains and damage caused by water and dissolved salts. Treated indoor and outdoor surfaces become easier to clean and keep looking good for longer. Further information can be found on the DryTreat website or by clicking here.
For softer more porous stones (Limestone, Travertine) we recommend a combination of DryTreat 40SK, and DryTreat StainProof particularly for use around pools and in coastal areas, or at a minimum, two coats of DryTreat StainProof. Please ask us for more information or visit the DryTreat website and use the “Select the Right Product” option.
Sealer will not prevent surface etching, scuff marks or wear and may lighten or darken some surfaces. STAIN-PROOF Original™ will make the maintenance and cleaning of a treated surface much easier. Once cured, this product is food contact safe.
